DIAMOND EXCHANGE
FIRE ENDANGERS FORTUNE NEW YORK, Dec M. Millions of dollars in diamonds were threatened yesterday by n. fire in the cramped, unostentatious building in (lie Bowery housing New York's famous diamond exchange. Several battalions of: firemen poured tons of water on the building, limiting damage to around £3OOO and saving the jewels from damage. Two score diamond dealers, all nervous and some wringing their hands, were herded by police into a npnrljy building and placed under guard to prevent them dashing into the exchange to save" their jewellery. .
