BUTTER MARKET FIRMER ADVANCE OF 1/- PER CWT. The ni:i rice I for New Zealand butter in London closed last week to a better demand and an advance of Is per cwt. on prices reported in Oishorno on Friday, the lop quotation now being !>3s. White c.:ieese has risen 'by (id per cwt., and this market is also firmer.
Messrs Joseph Nathan and Company report to-day as follows:—"The butter market is tinner, and closed last week at 92s to 93s per cwt. Cheese, white ,02s lid; the market is firmer."
AUCKLAND GAS CO. -BIGGEST PEOFIT SINCE 1931 The profits of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited, for the year ended December 31, 1935, were £78.640, an increase of over £15.000. and the highest recorded since 1931. The dividend for the year on both fully-paid and contributing shares is unchanged at 5.J, per cent. The amount available, including C 2203 brought forward, is £50.843. The dividend requires £61.373 and £]O,CGO is carried to the reserve for the redemption of debentures. The floating balanei is increased to £8970.
