OBESITY TAX
SUGGESTED FOR GERMANS
BERLIN, Dec. 14
The radical anti-Semitic weekly Judeiikenter yesterday suggested a .special obesity tax on'the ground that "potbellies' are superfluous and superannuated in new Germany."
The tax would depend on a. person's girth, the paper said, with steeper amounts for every centimetre over a certain limit fixed by authorities.
Exemptions would bo permissible only if obesity was the result of a malady or if the person could prove reducing seriously would impair his health. . Jews -would pay under all circumstances, the paper said, "because statistics proved the standard of living of German Jews was 17 times higher than that of the Aryans." "The belly ta»" on Jews would be 17 times higher.
