The, Plunket Shield match between Otago and Wellington, was resumed ni dull, but fine weather, ttm wicket, being in excellent order. When Otago continued their first innings, having lost- four wickets for 162 yesterday. Parsloe commenced the attack, Kerr and Qavanagh scoring a single each in the first, over. A single came from Asheriden's 'first over, but the third ball of Parsloe's next ovei was pitched on the off and. took Ken's middle stump. Parsloe seemed to be bowling with greater vim than yesterday, his occasional inswingers being troublesome. Smith faced Parsloe for two overs without scoring, and eventually Smith put his leg in front of a straight one. Two balls later. I'ttley snicked one into the slips, and Otago's stock slumped considerably. At this stage Parsloe had the remarkable figures for the morning of four overs, three maidens, three runs, and three wickets. Mills joined CSavanagh and opened confidently, but he lost his. skipper 15 runs later* when he poked one into the slips. Mills was just going nicely when Ward picked up a hot one in the covers and a great return found the youngster out of his crease.
Dickinson succumbed first ball, and the side were out for 188.
Moloney and Parsloe opened Wellington's second innings, scoring a single each off Dickinson's first- over. Parsloe had ,;a narrow escape from playing a ball into his wicket in Dickinson's secsent down two maidens the other end, and in his fourth over Parsloe skied one to mid-off, Dunning taking an easy catch. In Dickinson's sixth over, Ell lifted one into thinning's hands at silly midon, and in his next over O'Brien was smartly taken behind the wickets off his first, ball, and his next clean bowled Ward with a good ball. Lamason partnered Moloney, and this pair stopped the rot. Moloney hit two fours off DSeksfcrn.'s ninth over, and another four off the fast bowler's next over brought £0 up in 51 minutes, the scores at the luncheon adjournment being SO for four wickets. At 3, o'clock the tally was 130 for seven wickets. HAWKE CUP MATCH P.B.'S CHALLENGE Dates have been, arranged for the Hawke Cup cricket match between Manawatu and Poverty Bay, the latter team Wing the challenger. The game will be pmyed at Palmerslon North on Thursday 1 , Friday and Saturday, February 20, 21, and 22. These dates- have been agreed to by the southern association although two of its players, in the Wellington Plunket Shield fixture. D. R. R. Moloney and N, Oallichan, will not be returning until the morning of the opening clay.
