RESUMPTION WANTED
NORFOLK ISLAND TRADE The Norfolk Island Chamber of Commerce and Auckland export houses who previously conducted! a profitable export- trade with the. island are anxious that the shipping l service between Norfolk and New Zealand should he resumed at the earliest opportunity. This, fact, has been directed to the. attention of the Minister of Customs, the Hon. Walter Nash, by the. president, of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Gainor Jackson, following the receipt of a letter on the subject from i-lid Norfolk Island chamber. The lallor body, after pointing out that it is desirous of renewing trade- relations between the island and the. Dominion, points out that during the five years ended June 30, 1933, New Zealand exported to Norfolk Island goods (mainly produce) valued, at £63.747. while Norfolk Island exported to New Zealand produce valued at £27,561. which shewed a. trade balance greatly in favor of New Zealand.
