THE LABOR PARTY
MAORI BRANCH FORMED
A decision to form a Maori branch ot the New Zealand Labor Party was reached at a well-attended meeting of Maoris interested in native labor probheld in Auckland on Saturday afternoon. The chairman, Mr. Nia liira, introduced the object of the meeting, and spoke of the benefits to be derived from the study of Maori social and economic problems. Addresses also were given by Messrs. Kohi Hemana, Ngapipi Reweti, Paora Ratima, Taia Netana, Tamati Napiha, Te Kilioi Kawharu and Heta Hadfield. It \vas proposed that the Maori branch of the party should be divided into district. sections, and after some discussion it was decided to defer the question of organisation and the selection of officers until a later meeting.
