BUTTER IN CANADA
NEW ZEALAND SUPPLY DUTY INCREASES COST OTTAWA, Dec. 28. A cargo of New Zealand butter which arrived at Vancouver is giving the Minister of National Revenue worry. It arrived at 21 cents per lb. at Vancouver, where the wholesale price is 26 cents, and it is subject to a duty of five cents per lb., with now automatic dumping of four cents. Representations have been made by New Zealand, but, as the cargo has arrived, the Government states that it. can do nothing. It is likely the regulations will he modified foi' future shipments, despite strong objection from British Columbia dairymen.
