GIRL CYCLIST KILLED

TRAGEDY AT WAIROA COLLISION WITH LORRY FALL BENEATH WHEEL (Pur Press Association.) WAIROA, last night. Valeric Joy Lawrence, aged 10 years, met instant death this afternoon when she collided with a lorry loaded with metal.

It appears that the girl was Tiding a cycle along the road and endeavored to pass the lorry, which was driven by William Baker, a borough employee, but swerved in and fell under the rear wheel, suffering frightful head injuries.

The lorry pulled up within a few feet. Despite all the driver did to avoid the accident it was impossible to avert it, as the cycle appeared to be out of control. On arrival within a few minutes a doctor could only pronounce life extinct.
