ULSTER AND SOUTH MAN KILLED BY SNIPER BELFAST, July 22. Edward Scarlett- was shot dead during a renewal of fighting on Ncwtonard’s road. Apparently he was the victim oi a sniper concealed in a gateway. Several buildings were set on firo at Clones, on- the Free State- border. The House of William Meighan, a member of the British Legion, was attacked and windows smashed. At- Limerick a crowd in the course of an anti-Protestant demonstration stoned six shops and two clergymen’s houses, smashed the windows of a church, a Masonic Hall, and a young Men’s Christion Association's building before the police, dispersed them. Catholic priests condemned the outrage.
