Ngaio Poisoning
QEVERAL cases of ngaio poisoning have been reported from a Gisborno station, and two head of cattldied. The ngaio plant, when fresh or still growing, has little ill-oifect on stock, but when cut and allowed to Wilt its leaves arc a deadly poison. In the case in question, -the cattle ate leaves from a wilted plant. When such plants arc cut, it is advisable to either burn them or put them out of the reach of stock. This fir the first serious case of ngaio poisoning reported ill the Gisborne district for some years. Several dairy cows died at Ormond from this cause a few years ago.
