SOUTHERN MAORI SEAT (Per Press? Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. The Waikawa committee of the Maori National Political Federation is convening a conference at Pictpn of representatives of all native settlements in Canterbury, Nelson, Marlborough and the Sounds with a view to selecting an official candidate for the Southern Maori seat, it. being believed that at least two candidates are in tlie field in the party’s interests at the present time.
Mr. W. J. Gaudin, a member of tho Wellington City Cctaueil, has- decided to contest the Wellington, East seat as an independent candidate at the next general election.
