The registering of an accidental peak load as a result of lightning was reported at a meeting of the Waitemata Elec trie Power Board, Auckland. ‘‘Late on Sunday night, June 9, a lightning flash burned out the master contactor controlling the Takapuna street lighting system from which the water-heater relays in that borough are controlled,” said the manager, Mr A. Main. ‘‘This fault was not discovered until lighting-up time the following night.
