MAIN HIGHWAYS TRAFFIC

REPORT OF INSPECTOR The main highways traffic inspector, Mr. YV. 11. Scott, reported as follows to the Cook County Council, which met today : "No. 1 Section.—l have made three trips over this district for the purpose of watching heavy traffic carting and regulation of speed.

"No. 2 Section.—One trip was made to Motu and two additional trips as far as Whatatutu.

"No. 3 Section. —I visited this district between Gisborne and Te Araroa. I also attended the Magistrate's Court at Tolaga Bay, Waipiro Bay and Ruatoria, where several offenders were convicted for various breaches of the Motor Regulations.

"Licenses Issued.—Heavy traffic, 32; drivers' licenses, 153 renewals, 7 new applications. 18 previously issued by other local bodies, 7 issued on behalf of the Waikohu County Council, total. 185.

"Mileage Travelled.-—-June 19 to July 15, 1935, 1406 miles; benzine used, 68 gallons.
