MEMORIAL HOME VISIT
FLIGHT OVER GISBORNE
GOVERNOR'S BUSY TIME
The official section of the visit of the Governor-General and Lady Galway lo Gisborne was concluded this afternoon, when the party visited the Memorial Home and the. Cook Hospital, later taking a flight in an East Coast Airway-, plane to see something of the town and district from the air. Leaving town at 2.30 o'clock, the party proceeded to the Memorial Home, where inmates were presented to Then' Excellencies. Immediately afterwards thev drove to the Cook Hospital, where the matron, Miss Leipst. acted as hostess in serving afternoon tea. An inspection was nTaclc of the wards, and Their Excellencies showed great interest in the patients and their wellbeing. At the close of the afternoon while there was still light, the party was driven to Darton Field to partake in a flight over the town. . At the Memorial Home Their Excellencies were met by Mr. M. T. Trafford, chairman of the Cook Hospital Board, who also accompanied them to the hospital. Mr. Trafford, together with m. and Mrs. R. C. Vigis, custodians- of the home, showed the party through the premises and .Their-Excellencies evinced great interest in several of the inmates presented to them. 'At the Cook Hospital the party was met by the medical superintendent, Dr. R J.' B. Hall, and the registrar. Dr. Th'eodoTa~FTall, Hie matron, RIiSS-Ji6ij»st. and medical and nursing staff. Alter visiting the various wards they adjourned f,o the nurses' home for afternoon tea.
'' L4DY j GALWAY ENTERTAIN ED The "Gisborne Women's Club entertained Lady Gahvay at morning tea. The room had been 'tastefully decorated by the secretary and committee with flowers supplied by' Mrs Foster and members of the gardening circle. Lady Gahva-v-was presented with -a- bouquet by the president," Mrs C. H. Seymour, grid expressed a wish to meet "all the members, who then filed past. The obtest member of the club, Mrs Luttrell, presented Her Excellency with a handworked tablecentre. Lady Galway thanked the members for their kindness and said that she hoped to visit Gisborne again. At the conclusion of the function Mrs I'yke placed her car at Lady Galway's disposal and she, enjoyed a short drive.
