EXPANSION OF STEEL INDUSTRY
MIDDLESBROUGH, May 23.
Daman Long and Company, tnc iron find steel Sim, of Middlesbrough, who built.the Sydney bridge, are about to f,:c!! a contract ior the erection at their Cleveland works of a coke oven battery which will be the second largest in Europe. The battery will be erected by Simon Carves limited. It is estimated that the total cost of the plant will be in the region of x'2.CCO,OCO, and that the extension will be the b.ggest in the iron and steel indujtiy on Tees-side for many years. The t'tap taken suggests that the directors have fa.th in tiie recovery of the industry and the return.ng prosperity of their own concern.
