THE WEATHER To-day's .North Island Report. Blue skies were reported throughout (lie North Island this 'morning. Bight variable breeezs were general. The barometer had risen steadily since yesterday. Temperatures at 9 o'clock were : Auckland 50 degrees. Tauranga 52. Gpotiki -11. Fast Cape and Gisborne 46. Napier 15. and Wellington 51. Moderate or smooth seas were reported everywhere. Last Night's Forecast. A depression of the westerly type extends from southern Australia across the Tasman on to southern New Zealand, pressure being fairly high in the more northern latitudes. Winds, westerly to north-westerly, mainly moderate at first, but gradually freshening. Seas. r:ither rough to rough south of Cape Fgmont; elsewhere smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasman, moderate to strong north-west winds, sons moderate, but rising in the southern portion. Weather, mainly fair to line, but a few isolated* showers in the western areas and in the far south; later conditions becoming more generally unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect. Temperatures mild, especially in the Fast Coast districts. Middry Forecast. General inference. —An anticyclone with its centre to the north extends over most of the Dominion, while a ■•nrcssion covers the south Tasman Soa, . but is apparently losing intensity. j Forecast.
