£150,000 DIAMOND

NEW YORK, June 10
It became known in New York today that the .Linker diamond, which was bought for about £150.000 by the American jeweller, Mr. Harry Win* ston, is on its way to the United Slates as an ordinary registered packet in the liner President Roosevelt.
The cost of sending it across the Atlantic was a trifle more than half-a-ero wn—t lie charge for registration, postage, and postal insurance. Mr. Winston lias taken the precaution, however, of insuring the diamond fot £200,000.
When the stone arrives in Now York on Friday ii will be taken in an armoured ear to the Appraiser's ollice of the United States Customs. where ii will be inspected by officials before being handed to Mr. Winston. He will not be called upon to pay any duty, as none is charged on uncut .si ones.
