PATUTAHI NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Last Friday afternoon t lie Patutahi School lirst fifteen met the Xlakaraka School team at Patutahi in their fourth game in (lie primary schools’ country competition. After an uneven game the local boys, who outweighed the visitors, won by a substantial margin. Tries were scored by L. Williams. X. Hum, M. Hawea, P. Fade. C. Jones and I’. Bryson. Goals were kicked hv Williams and Hawea. Mr. M. .Scragg was I lie referee. Two basketball games were also played between girls’ teams, Patutahi A defeating Makaraka A by 11 goals to 4. For the winners goals were thrown by. Lorna Scragg, Joan Knight, and Shirley Judd, the visitors' score being divided between Bunty ' Parker and Patsy Carlin. The local B team also secured a victory by 6 goals to 4, the scorers for the winners being Girlie Tupara, Olive Tnmatea. and Collina Cameron. For tMakaraka, points were notched by Fdna Tutenberg. Shirlev Saunders and Phyllis White. Miss K. Linton refereed both games. Owing to unforeseen circumstances' the date of the monthly meeting of the Women's Institute, improvement circle lias been altered to Thursday. Mr. G. Batson has returned from a short visit to Wellington.
