The* inquiry into the supposed* death of' Janies Smith was resumed to-day. , Defective t'aliian said that Brady bad disclaimed all knowledge of a letter sent to The liogrje of Smith on May 1. several weeks . after Smith had . disappeared. Detective 'Allinond had shown the letter to.B'pady, who had read it and inquired : ’VWhataliout; it?" Allmond had alleged that the .letter, in his opinion, was in Brady’s handwriting. Brady had replied: "I did not, write it. That is only your opinion.” The letter was tendered as evidence and read: “Son, keep your mother quiet. ■ I’m in a jam. It s O.K. Call the cops off. Tell vour mum I'll have plenty sCqn. and we .will be all right. They want me. Something in town. Never mind. Bo a man for me. Vour loving father--Jim Smith.
