On the second day, Akitio dej feated Ruahine by two goals to one. , A letter was also received from ooutl] Canterbury, regretting that this year hockey vyas at rather a low ebb in the association’s tournament, and it would be impossible to enter the tournament; “Those of us who had the pleasure of attending the event at Gisborne in 1929.” the letter stated, “have most pleasant memories of the visit, your unsurpassable hospitality, your perfect organisation and the enthusiasm of the Poverty Bay people.” At. the last Gisborne ’tournament, fhe South Canterbury team was among the most popular competing, although it won only one gairfe and drew one. Last year at 'Christchurch, CSoifth . Canterbury went through the tournament without a win.
