DAIRY FACTORY SUPPLY

CONTROL OF BOUNDARIES - GISBORNE DISTRICT DIRECTORS’ CON EERENCE A plan of either zoning or amalgamation is being submitted by dairy companies of the Gisborne, Co'ast and AVairoad districts with the idea of eliminating wasteful competition for factory sup plies. This matter was discussed at a conference of directors representing the. AVairoa, Xtihaka, Okitu, Kia Ora, Tolaga Bay and Ngat-iporon companies after the ward conference at Gisborno on Saturday, and a paitial agreement regarding a plan briefly lofoired to above was reached. The discussion was held in committee, Mr. A. J. Murdoch. M.P., chairman of the Dairy Board, presiding, and with him was’Mr. E. T. Lincbam, manager of the hoard's Auckland office. During the ward conference earlier iti the day, Mr. Murdoch stated that- companies in some parts of the. Dominion had come to agreements whereby they would not seek - supply beyond certain boundaries, and he commended that principle to the companies in this district. He urged the companies themselves to come to some suitable arrangement, otherwise some outside bodv might have to interfere and lay down certain plans. The matter was fully discussed in committee by the directors of the factories concerned on Saturday afternoon, and the discussion lasted some time. The recommendation to the Agricultural Commission was that either a zoijbig scheme be prepared for the district, fertiiin boundaries being set down for supply, or an amalgamation be effected of :he two Gisborne factories.
