TOUR OF JAPAN
UNIVERSITY RUGBY TEAM The New Zealand University Board football selector, Mr. P. M. Smith, of Wellington, is proceeding with the selection of the University team to go to Japan at the end of the year. He anticipates that a' strong side will be available for the tour, there being some excellent talent offering iu the teams representing the universities in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The reason for going ahead with the selecting of the team is that no difficulty is anticipated in carrying negotiations for the tour to a successful conclusion. In order that there should be no undue delay in completing the team, the selector is taking the earliest opportunities of studying the form of players in other centre’s. He was in Christchurch last. Saturday to sec. the Canterbury College players* in net ion, and he hopes to visit Dunedin this month. The annual University Rugby match, Canterbury v. Otago, is to be‘played at Dunedin on July 17.
