MATAWHERO STOCK SALE SALE OF STORE SHEEP THE BEST THIS SEASON Although there were only small yardings of cattle and fat sheep at the (Matawhero stock sale, held -by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association at the Matawhero saleyards today, the sale of store sheep is considered to he the best this season. For ordinary quality fat sheep prices showed no change Values were firm to advancing in the store sheep market, the bidding being particularly lively. The entry in the .beef section totalled 21. Good Hereford cows made £3 12s (id,-and with lesser finish £3; good Jersey cows, £1 os; Jersey vealers, 15s. Prices. —2 good Jersey cows, £1 ss; 10 good Hereford cows, £3 12s 6d; 7 ditto, not so prime, £3. Only 70 fat sheep came forward and these generally were of ordinary quality. SHEEP There was a. fairly large yarding of store sheep and a large attendance of the public, with the Waikato represented amongst the buyers. The sale was animated and was probably the best of the season, with values linn to advancing. Wethers ranged from ,16s 9d for small 2-tooths to 18s lid for good 2-tooths. Lambs made 16s Id for an outstanding pen, shorn, from Mr. Corlett, Knnakanaia, 14s Id for well-grown, shorn, and 8s for a very ordinary pen of small lambs; 2-tooth ewes, small, medium, 17s 2d to 17s 6d; good condition Jl-tooths, to 20s 8d; 5-year ewes, 14s to J6s 2d; and light* mouths, with good condition, 10s 4d. Prices: Wethers. —184 4-tooths, in good condition (p), 18s 4d; 66 2-tooths, with condition, 17s 6(1; 153 2-tooths, some small, fresh condition, 16s del; 595 2-tooths, a straight line, good frame and in good order (p), 17s 6d; 105 2-tooths, full of condition, 18s lid. Ewes. —125 5-year, .good months, fairly good condition, 14s; IC4 5-year, good frame, fairly good condition, 16s 2d; 120, full to failing mouths, poor to fairly good condition, 10s 4d; 113, fair mouths, good frame, forward, 13s 6d; 244 5-year, good store condition, 16s. Mixed ages.—ls 3 4-tooth to 5-year, medium to good condition, 15s Id; 147, 4, 6 and 8-tootli, medium frame and con--dition, 16s lid.

Prices for pigs were as follow: Three medium weaners, 3s 3d; 3 good size weaners, 7s 3d; 4 half-size, good stores, £1; 3 fairly good conditioned stores, 245; 'one plain Tamworth sow, with litter of nine, very small, 38s; one small Berkshire sow and 5 fairly good weaners, 325; 3 good weaners, 7s; one White porker, unfinished, 21s; 2 fresh condition, medium size stores, 21s; 8 quality weaners, Tamworth cross, 11s; 1 medium size White porker, 20s; 4 good TamWorth sows, weaners, 10s; 8 heavy Tamworth-Berkshire cross weaners, 14s and 12s; 5 good Tamworth cross wean? ers, 9s; 7 lengthy White weaners, 7s and 7s 3d; 4 White weaners, 9s 6d and 8s 6d.
