Despite suggestions that American apples might- depress prices at the opening of the Australian season, the trado does not expect Americans to be strong competitors, because, while them are 4,000,000 more cases iu cold store in North America than there were at the same ' date last year, prices, after duty had been paid in London, would not be sufficiently attractive, aud therefore, with smaller Australian supplies, the season can be expected to be nearer normal than in recent ygM3.
