AIY. and Mrs. George Kirk; Port Awanui; are leaving Gisborne to-morrow for Wellington en route for Sydney to join the Or ford for London. Dr. if. B. Turbot*, medical officer of liealtli at Gisborne, returned this morning from a. visit to Wellington, a-n<3 has arranged to leaves to-morrow morning for the Waikato. . Airs. .T. .1. Gillies and Miss Mona Gillies left this morning by piano for their home in Palmerston North, The Hawke’s Buy and East, Coast Aero Club’s monoplane, piloted by Flight,-Lieiit, Gerrand, arrived about 6.30 a.m. from Hastings and departed shortly afterwards with Airs, and Miss Gillies.

Air. Prank L. Kav. ALA., formerly of Canterbury College, who made (•lassies his subject at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, lias -helm appointed classics master at Stamford School, a boys’ public school in 'Lincolnshire. Air. Kay was recently married in London to Miss Jean Carter, of Toronto. Mr Kay left England at the end of 1930 to take up the position of assistant professor of classics ar Toronto University.

Dr. 11. B. Loughiian, S..L, a son of Air. 11. 11. Loughiian, of Avonsidc, is at; present spending a holiday in Christchurch. Dr. Loughiian, who is u Doctor of Philosophy of the Gregorian University at Rome, is a resident tutor in philosophy in Newman College in the University of 'Melbourne. .Dr. Loughiian has been busy lately in writing a critical examination of modern philosophy.
