THIRD PARTY RISKS
CONVEYANCE OF CHILDREN USE OF FAMILY CAR Third party risks insurance in the ease of the transportation of children in private cars was the subject of a communication received by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board at its meeting yesterday from the Education Department. The letter stated that eases had been brought under the notice of the department where parents conveyed their oven children to school in the family car, and in addition carried a neighbor’s child, receiving the usual capitation payments.
It would be advisable, stated tho department, to inform these parents that no cover existed insofar as their own children were concerned under the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, 1928, even if they had correctly nominated tho vehicle under class's (d) as a “contract, motor vehicle.” Tho cover would extend only to the neighbor’s child. In casos where private ears were used for the conveyance for capitation of children other than the car owner's children, the obligation to pay the premium at the rate set down in the Act as for a “contract motor vehicle” should be pointed out. It was resolved by the board that the information should be passed on to the interested parties, it being stated that tho appropriate annual premium would be £2 ss.
