THE GRENADIER GUARDS BAND TO VISIT GISBORNE The advent of the Grenadier Guards' Band, under the direction of Messrs. J. and N. Tait, to the Childers road reserve, Gisborne, on Monday 'night, January 14, is being awaited with great interest. By special permission of His Majesty the King, the most famous regimental hand Of the United Kingdom is touring New Zealand under the auspices of the Commonwealth Goveminent and the New Zealand Government, the ih.usical director being Major G. Miller, M.8.E., whose name is a distinguished one in the'musical world of Great Britain.

When the .Grenadier Guards Band arrived in Melbourne it was met by the largest crowd ever known to assemble at the railway station. It is estimated that, over"' 150,0(30 persons blocked the roadway so completely, as the bandsmen'marched from the station to the Town Hall, that on occasions the mounted troopers had great difficulty in clearing a path for them. Resplendent in. scarlet, and gold and huge bearskin caps, their appearance in Australia was, if is said, an inspiring spectacle. At, every performance in Sydney and Melbourne the Grenadier Guards .Baud played to record audiences.
