CONTRACT FOR DREDGE
,I ATARI JUNCTION PROJECT
Another new dredge is to be built an the West Coast for an Australian •company. • The successful tenderer is Mr W. G. McKay. The site is Mataki Junction, near Murchison, just below the bridge above which the Mataki dredge is at present working. The new dredge will be a powerful machine costing £20,000, and the total plant will lie driven by independent motors from power supplied by a 350 horse-power Diesel engine on the dredge. The pontoon will be of Australian hardwood.
