To-day’s North Island Report,

Overcast conditions were reported this morning at East Cape and Gisborne, bat blue skies prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate northerly breezes were general. The barometer had continued the falling movement.. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 75 degrees, Tauranga 72, Upotiki 66, East Cape and Wellington 68. Gisborne 69, and Napier 74, Rough seas were reported at Tauranga, East Cape, and Cape Campbell; elsewhere moderate or smooth

Last Night’s Forecast An extensive depression now covers the New Zealand area, its centre to-day lying across the southern portion of the South Island. Winds, northerly to westerly north of Westport and Akaroa, moderate to strong, and in places reaching gale force; elsewhere moderate arid variable at first, but with southerlies soon setting in, and later extending temporarily northwards. Seas, rather rough to rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong west to south winds, with rough seas. Weather unsettled, dull and misty, with further bin in most districts, and some heavy falls ; thunder probably in places. Temperatures becoming cooler.

Midday Forecast. . General inference.—An extensive, depression still covers New Zealand, tlie centre now being east of the South Island. Another depression is apparently following it closely, so. that, no prolonged soul hotly change is l o he expected. Forecast. —Moderate lo strong northerly winds, changing to southerlies by to-morrow. Weather changeable, with irregular rains, and some scattered heavy falls, and thunder likely. Sear, rather rough.
