UNIQUE FERN

PROPAGATION AT TAURANGA

A fernery established in Tauranga 10 years ago by Mr. Charles Cameron now contains about 1300 varieties of native and foreign ferns. They include one unique specie:; which was propagated from leaf mould found in a buried forest 15ft. below the surface, at the junction of the Oinnnawn road, about, eight miles from Tauranga. This fern represents the one species, of cyst op ter is, and before its propagation by Mr. Cameron, was unknown. Ho far it. has not been named. Mr. Cameron has sent specimens of the fern to leading museums in various parts of the world, and has been advised by experts that there is no trace of it in any oilier conntry. It is a pretty little fern and grows to” a height of from 15 to 18in.
