STREETS AWASH
RAIN IN AUCKLAND
LARGE CROWDS CAUGHT (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A tropical deluge of exceptional sevorit3 - broke over the city and suburbs this afternoon. Over an inch and a-half of raiu fell during the three-quarters of an hour during which the storm lasted. The streets over a considerable area were awash. Large crowds wore caught at popular holiday resorts unprepared for the deluge, which was accompanied by heavy lightning and' a thunder-storm. It ended as suddenly as it had commenced.
