TROTTING TRAINER HURT
J. T. PAUL’S HEAVY FALL
CONDITION SERIOUS
A severe fall while driving in a race at the trotting meeting at Epsom last Saturday was experienced by the Mangere trotting trainer, J. T. Paul. He received injuries to the head and was immediately taken to the Auckland Hospital. Later it was reported that his condition continued to be fairly serious. Paul won two races, with Great Parrish and Aircraft, on the firs't day of the meeting, last Thursday, ami lie was also successful with To Kalin in the opening event on 'Saturday. The accident occurred when he was driving .Great Parrish, owned by him, in the Innovation Handicap. The field had gone about two furlongs and Great Parrish, who was the back marker, had run up handy. An inquiry into the fall revealed the’fact that through a horse breaking and going back on him F. J. Smith was.obliged to check Chancellor, and Great Parrish, who was moving up fast, put his foot into Chancellor’s wheel.
