TO MAKE REAL FRIENDS
REASON FOR JAMBOREE
CHIEF SCOUT’S MESSAGE
MELBOURNE, Dec. 27. Lord and Lady Baden-Powell arrived to-day for the opening of the Scout jamboree. Lord Baden-Powell issued the following special message“l am mighty glad to be here in time for the opening of the jamboree, and to welcome all from the many different countries they represent. I hope they all realise that the jamboree is held, not merely for them to come and stare at each other and criticise one another’s dress and appearance, but that they may hold out the left hand of scouting to each and every Scout and make real friends, not acquaintances.” The jamboree opens on Saturday with a national, colorful, educational pageantry and grand march past of all Scouts, and the iamboree will continue till January 13.
