Favored by beautiful weather and a large attendance, the annual regatta at Wuikaremoaua ou Boxing Day was most successful.
All the events were started up to time, thanks to the various officials and the secretary, who had a very strenuous time of it. The handicaps were very fair. The races were well contested. Following are the results : Lap record, inboard boats (3 entries). —Powell and Hall’s Ramona, 1; R. Neale’s Miss Napier, 2. Waikarcmoaua Regatta Club cup race. —’J’. Hall’s Glencoe, 1 ; J. Tapper’s Kotuku, 2; R. Neale’s Fernglen, 3. Lap record for outboard boats.—William Cockerill’s Nymph, 1; Jones’ Echo, 2; Signall’s Miss Betty, 3. Speed championship.—J. Gibbon’s Whakamatau, 1; It. Neale’s Miss Napier 2> Svensen Challenge Cup.—J. Tapper’s Kotuku, 1; W. Cockerill’s Nymph, 2; It. E. Neale’s Miss Napier, 3. Ormond Challenge Cup (7 entries). — It. E. Neale’s Miss Napier, 1; J. Mr. William Cockerill, Hastings, presented a cup to the committee, and had the novelty to have it included in his win.
