3 MONTHS IN DOMINION

An unexpected arrival at Auckland on Monday was the French auxiliary yacht Korriganc, from Rarotonga. The vessel is on a two years’ cruise round the world and is expected to be about three months in New Zealand waters.

Tho master of the yacht is Count Etienne de Ganay. His wife also is on board. His sister, who gs joint owner of the vessel, is making the. cruise with her husband, Mr dor Brock d’Ogrenan. The other member of the party is M. Jean Ratisbourne. During the yacht’s stay in New Zealand the party will engage in fresh-water angling and deepsea fishing, Tim yacht’s equipment includes two launches, and three boats for use when sea fishing. ) The Korrigane left France last March and since then has visited Spain, Gibraltar, Tangier, Canary Islands, Martinique, French Antilles, Panama, Galapagos Islands, Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, Leeward Islands and Rarotonga. She left Rarotonga for Auckland on December 6.

She is a topsail schooner-rigged vessel of about 290 tons, and is fitted with two 50 horsepower engines for use in calm weather or when entering port. The crew includes a chief and second engineer, boatswain, four seamen, a. cook and a steward. They are all French except the- cook and second engineer, who are Tahitians.
