STRIKE THREATENED
TROUBLE AT DARWIN
DISPUTE OVER WAGES
DARWIN, Dec. 25. A general strike of railway, wharf, pastoral, and mine workers is threatened in the Northern Territory at the beginning of the year, owing to the reduction in the basic wage from 96s scl to 90s 9d, under an award ot die Arbitration Court, which has just been announced. About 500 men are involved. It has also been decided to demand the restoration of the 1929 conditions, when the basic wage, was 110 s weekly.
