“COME BACK”
CALL TO PERRY
LONDON, Dec. 23. "Fred Perry is stale owing to continual international tennis _ for three years, otherwise no player in the world would have beaten him with the loss of two games,” says Mr. Stanley N. Doust, in the Daily Mail. Doust recalls that the Australian authorities ordered- Ctawtynl three months’ rest, after which ho beat Perry. Ho urges the Tennis Asociation to cable Perry to crime home immediately. Critics emphasise that 'Perry must defend his Australian .wd saw that; probably he will’meet-Grawford,' -against whom he has to. wipe'out his defeat in Sydney, which he is unlikely to do unless he rests. ...... The Evening News regards Quist s victory as the biggest reverse Perry has' suffered, and, moreover, following Crawford’s, win suggests that Perry s game is cracking. It may be only temporary, says the paper, but few can bo expected to keep top form for , such lengthy periods. Perry has the strength of a horse and has great determination and enthusiasm, but his temperament is never ideal. Apparently his concentration has been broken by offers to turn professional, which is producing strain.
