KOUSSI'S BEATS \ PERRY
SYDNEY, Dec. 26
Maintaining an unbeaten record in the intei national tennis contest, Grawiord and McGrath gave Australia; ail overwhelming victory over, Britain and France. .
The final totals were: AustrMia, 10 rubbers, 2k.; sets. 156 games; Britain, three' rubbers, 10 sets, 126 games; France, two rubbers, seven sets, 108 games. ■ To-day s results are as follows: McGrath defeated Bruguou, 6—2, 6—4: Boussus detcated Perry. 4 —6, 6—2, 6—3; Crawford defeated Hughes, 9—7. 6—3.
The matches were played under very adverse oonditions, the courts being saturated and the balls sodden and discolored.
McGrath was too steady for Brugnon, scoring with bis famous two-handed backhand.
Perry began well against Boussus, staging an effective net attack, but after the first set he fell away badly, netting and outing in tedious fashion. Crawford and Hughes had a great struggle, but the Australian’s superior control won him the day.

MELBOURNE, Dec. 27.
The first tennis match between New Zealand and Melbourne university students began at Melbourne yesterday. Derham defeated Barnett (New Zealand), 6 —l, 6—4, 6—2; Boont defeated Young (N.Z.), 6—4, 6—o; McCarthy (N.Z.) defeated Jones, 6—3, 7-5; Barrel' (N.Z.) defeated Lawton, 6—3. 8-6.,
The progress scores were: New Zealand, two rubbers, five sets, 40 games; Melbourne, two, four, 45. The New Zealanders, on Tuesday, met a New South Wales Tennis'Association team at the White City courts. In the singles, Crystal, defeated Barnett, 6—2, 6 —3; Rodgers defeated Barrel’," 6—4, 4—6, 6—4; Purvey * defeated McCarthy, 6—4. 7—5; Lewis defeated Young, 6—4. B—6. In the doubles, Rodgers and Crystal defeated Barnett and Barrer, 6—l, 6—4.
Barnett was much below his best against Crystal, serving a number of double faults, and breaking down badly on his forehand.
Barrer gave a good performance against Rodgers.
PLAY IN FRANCE
NEW ZEALANDERS BEATEN
PARIS, Dec. 24
In the covered courts tennis championships, Merling defeated Malfroy, 6—2, 6—l; Bcrotra defeated Stedman, 9—7. o—6. 7—5; Glasser defeated Hare, 6—3, 4-6. 6—4.
