DIES IN CHURCH
OLD WOMAN’S COLLAPSE

AUCKLAND, last night
Shortly after the commencement of Holy Communion ser.viee in Christ’s Church, JSllerslie, at |S a.m. to-day, one of the congregation, Mrs. Sarah Winifred Whitburn, 70, collapsed and died of heart failure.
At the time of her collapse, Mrs. Whitburn was kneeling in prayer with the rest of the congregation and suddenly fell forward. Members of the congregation carried her to the vestry, where a doctor who had been summoned could only state that life was extinct. 'The congregation was deeply shocked' by the collapse, and the vicar, Canon llobday, decided not to proceed with the service.
