LOST IN THE BUSH
EXHAUSTED WHEN RESCUED

Two Government, surveyors, Messrs. Eric Prfry and Hugh Champion, of Wellington, were rescued in a weak condition after having been lost in the bush west of Manapouri for several days. They set out from Dusky Sound three weeks ago to survey the country to the north arm. Mr. Perry was attempting to take a rope across a swollen stream when he slipped and was carried down 200yds., losing all his instruments and maps. The men became lost, and for a week subsisted on the raw deer meat and ferns, Mr. Perry set out for help, and, luckily, met.a- party of deer-stalkers, who rescued Mr. Champion in a very exhausted state.
