CLOSE OF SCHOOL YEAR

A very enjoyable function took place at the Tokomaru Bay Public School at the close of the school year, when the parents and friends attended to inspect the children’s work. Somo excellent items were given by the pupils, and the exhibition of their work was greatly admired.

The dux medal this year was won by Edith James, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. James, Tokomaru Bay. The headmaster, Mr. J. James, who is shortly leaving the district for Taranaki, was farevvellect Ijv the children and presented with a fountain pen and a book from the pupils and staff. The presentation was made by Alty King, and Mr. James replied briefly, thanking the children for their generous gift, and assuring them he would always remember bis stay in Tokomaru Bay.
