Bales on the Melbourne Stock Exchange to-day included: National Bank, £5 paid, £0 4s; Goldsbrough Mort, 30s’ 3d; Herald and Weekly Times, 58s 6d; Howard Smith, 15s 9d; Blount Lyell, 17s 9d.
HASTINGS STOCK SALE
SHEEP SELL WELL
Both fat and store sheep sold well at the Hastings stock sale on Thursday. Fat sheep met with an improved sale, lambs in particular meeting with keen competition for butchering interests. Ewes were firm on last week, while wethers were unchanged. Lambs sold to 255; wethers to 23s Id, and ewes to 16s.
Store sheep comprised principally rape lambs, which were firm to easier on good sorts, while poorer lines were easier. Wethers sold well at improved rates. Lambs brought to 15s, and wethers to 19s 9d. A Morere entry of 250 mixedsex, store conditioned, black-faced lambs, mixed in size, from Mr. Walter McKenzie, sold at 10s. The store cattle entry was small, and the market fair, with little change.
BRIAN BORU 1 GOLD DREDGE
The Brian Boru dredge repairs have been effected, and dredging was resumed at midnight on Tuesday. There will be a wash-up this week-end, and operations will then cease until after the new year holidays.
AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE MARKETS
SYDNEY, Dec. 20
Wheat on country sidings is quoted at, bagged 2s a bushel, bulk Is .lid, which is equal to about 2s 7d ex trucks Sydney. Flour, £7 5s a ton; bran, £5; pollard, £5 ss. -» Potatoes. Tasmanian, £l4 a ton; Victorian, £l2; local, £l3 10s. Onions, Victorian, Brown, £8 10s a ton; Globes, to £ll. Maize, white and yellow, 3s 3d a bushel.
ADELAIDE, Dec. 20.
Wheat: Growers' lots, old crop, 2s 5d a bushel; new season’s lots, to 2s 7-id. Flour, bakers' lots, £7 10s a ton. Bran, £5 a ton. Pollard, £5 2s Od a ton. Oats, Algerian, Is 8d to Is 9d; milling, 2s Id a bushel. Barley, 2s 8(1 a bushel.
