KING’S ACCESSION
25TH ANNIVERSARY
LONDON CELEBRAITONS
(British Official Wireless.) Roc. 3 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 21. Tho Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, stated in the House of Commons to-day that the official celebrations in London in connection with _ the twenty-fifth anniversary of the King’s accession to- the Throne would be inaugurated on May 6 by a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which the King and Queen and members of the Royal Family will atteud.
During the celebrations in London the King will receive tho Diplomatic Corps and representatives of the overseas Empire. Addresses also will be presented to His Majesty by both Houses of Parliament.
The King and Queen hope during the celebrations to undertake processional drives in different parts of London. Mr. MacDonald said- that the. King was especially anxious that great expenses should not- bo incurred in the way of decorations in these districts, so that if tho weather is unfavorable the drive may lie postponed until another day. Included in the programme of celebrations will be a naval review at Spitbead, a military review at Aldershot, and an Air Force review. The celebrations in Wales will include a ceremony at which the King will be represented by the Prince of Wales. During August Their Majesties will break their journey 1o Balmoral at Edinburgh. Arrangements are being made for extensive floodlighting of public buildings during the celebrnlions.
