ORDER FOR BOOTS

Messrs. .Ross and 'Glendining, Dunedin, have obtained the contract for the supply of 1500 pairs of officers’ boots. This 'is the second Defence Department contract obtained by the firm, the previous one being for i 3.500 pairs of boots tor the rank and file.

ADDISON’S FLAT GOLD MINING

The Addison’s Flat Gold Mining Company, Limited, will pay a dividend of 10 per cent, on December 20. making a total of 43 per cent, for the year. Had the weather been more favorable for mining and water obtainable, the dividend would have been higher. No balance will be transferred to the reserve on this occasion, but a substantial sum had been placed to reserve previously.

DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET

Dalgety and Company have received the following advice from London dated December 19: “Butter. —The market is steadier at the. lower prices. Quotations: Danish, 102 sto 104 s f.0,b.; New Zealand finest, 69s to 69s 6d; Australian finest, 695. Cheese.—The market is steadier at the lower prices. Quotations: New Zealand, white 455, colored 42a to 42s 6d.”

An overseas company with large financial interests is carrying out tests at. tho Cromwell fiats, some distance from the township, with a view to building two dredges.
