Lyttelton—Dec. 21: Arrived, Wahine, 6.45 a.m., from Wellington; Port Whangarei, 5.45 a.m., and Waikouaiti, 9.15 a.m., from Timarn. Widespread interest, lias been taken in the world’s shearing record created by Sonny White at Mr. Francis Stafford’s Sherbrooke station this week, when Mr. White put through 433 sheep in a working day of nine hours. Me. White’s gang comprised five shearers in all. and they averaged 312 sheep that day, the total dealt with during (lie day being 1561. This is a better average than another good one in the Wniapn County recently when six shear ers put through 1791 sheep in 9br. and smin., an average of almost 300 per shearer. The individual tallies were 315, 307, 304, 301 and 267. In the montldy report of the engfneer, Mr. G. T. Cuthbert, to to-day’s meeting of the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board, statistics relating to the consumption of current during November were given as under; Maximum' halfhourly demand oh the Public Works Department supply, 1884 k.v.a. between 11.70 a.m. and noon on November 1 11933 comparative figures, 1933 k.v.a., 11.30 a.m. to noon on November 7); maximum 15-minute dentand, 1896 k.v.a. commencing at 11.30 a.m. on November 1, and again from 11.15 a.m, on Noveber 20 (1933 figures, 1812 k.v.a. commencing at 11.30 a.m. on November 7); instantaneous peak, 1938 k.v.a, on three occasions, November 1,8, and 29, between 11 a.m. and noon (1933 figures, 1844 k.v.a. at 11.20 a.m., November 29).
