DUKE AT OPOTIKI
A WARM GREETING
LOYALTY EXPRESSED
(Special to the Herald.) OPOTIKI, (his day
A large gathering of residents of the Opotiki district greeted the Duke of Gloucester on his arrival here to-day, when a loyal address was presented to His Royal Highness.
In his acknowledgment of tho address, the Duke stated :
“Ilis Worship the Mayor of Opotiki, and the chairman of the County of Opotiki. Mr. Mayor and Mr. Chairman. . “I welcome the assurances of loyalty to the King, my father, which you give on belmlf of all the people, his children, from the town and country of Opotiki, and I am very grateful for your kindly welcome and good wishes to me. “I have greatly enjoyed my journey through the wonderful mountain scenery from Poverty Bay to the Bay of Plenty. “I am glad to have this opportunity of greeting you all, and I wish you every prosperity in the future.'" For his journey from Gisborne to the north to-day, the Duke of Gloucester wore a dark grey suit, white shirt and collar, black and white striped tie. and dark tan shoes. In his buttonhole, he wore a red carnation.
