COMET’S NEW VENTURE
FLIGHT TO THE CONGO FIRST STAGE COMPLETED (British Official Wirelous.) Rrc. 2 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 20. Mr. Kenneth Waller, who, with Flight-Limit. Cathcart-Jones, recently (lew to Australia and back in 134 days, left to-day on a flight to the Belgian Congo in the Comet aeroplane used in the Australian flight. The range of the machine has been reduced, and other modifications introduced for the journey, which is intended to demonstrate the possibility of a regular air mail service on this route. The Comet, in which Mr. Wailer is accompanied by Captain Francliommc, landed at Oran this afternoon, having completed the 1060-mile stage in ‘4hrs. 56min. at a speed of 210 miles an hour. To-morrow they will proceed to Nuamey, in French West Africa, 155 C miles distant.
