The first section of tho new reservoir on the-'summit of Mount Hobson, Auckland, is now practically completed and will be brought into Use within the next few days. This section, holding 21,000,CCQ gallons cf water, represents half of the structure, which has been designed to meet the needs of tho Remuera and Tamaki districts. Christmas is bringing its usual rush of work for postal officials, and this morning’s delivery from the south, comprising 94 bags and 44 hampers of postal matter, representing the balance of the Kangitata’s shipment of mail from the United Kingdom, was an •exceptionally heavy one. The Christmas posting, bolt outward and inward, at Gisborne during the past few days has been heavier than for at least three or four years, and the staff at the chief Post Office at Gisborne has been working long shifts to cope with the peak of business.
