SWIMMING
TEACHING CHILDEEN
N.Z. COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL

A proposal to transfer £350 of its funds for use in educating children in swimming was approved at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Swimming Association last night. A ■motion authorising the transfer will be submitted to the next meeting of the council.
Thoro was a proposal to transfer £154 from tho overseas tours fund, but this was opposed and not adopted. It was agreed generally that little good came of sending New Zealand swimmers to tho Olympic Gaines, but it was held that much good was done by visits of swimmers to New Zealand, and to linanco such visits money should be held in a fund.

(Par Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Negotiations for a visit of the French swimmers, Jean Paris and Einilo Poussard, who are at present in Australia, are being made by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. It is proposed that the tour should last 15 days. Tho French swimmers will be returning homo via New Zealand and the idea is that they will tour New Zealand on their return home. The men will arrive in Auckland on March 4 or 5 and could leave for America by the Maunganul on March 19.
The action which had been taken by the committee in negotiating for the tour was approved.
