ICE MOVES SEAWARD
ANTARCTIC HEAT WAVE * \ UNSEASONABLE THAW LITTLE AMERICA, Dec. 18. A heat wave struck Little America today, the temperature reaching! 37 degrees above zero. The unseasonable thaw started in the ice in the Bay of Whales, moving seaward. The seals vanished deeper into the ice pack to avoid the killer whales which roam the cold water in packs. According to a wireless message to the camp, the tractor and sledging parties met on December 16 on a plateau in Scotland, 150 miles eastward, and are proceeding to camp together.
